CODA

Frequently Asked Questions

What does CODA Acquisitions do?
CODA identifies and connects qualified business buyers with businesses that may align with their acquisition criteria. We focus on targeted research, direct outreach, and relationship-driven conversations to uncover opportunities that may not be publicly marketed.

We also work with business owners who may not be ready to exit, helping them strengthen revenue, diversify their customer base, and improve overall business value - positioning them for a stronger future transition when the time is right.

Does CODA broker businesses for sale?
CODA focuses on sourcing opportunities and facilitating introductions. We are not a traditional business-for-sale marketplace.

How does the process work?
It starts with a conversation. We learn what the buyer is looking for or what the business owner is considering, conduct targeted research and outreach campaigns (phone calls), evaluate potential fits, and facilitate introductions when there is alignment.

Does CODA guarantee a transaction?
No. CODA facilitates opportunities and introductions, but the ultimate decision to pursue, negotiate, and complete a transaction belongs to the buyer and seller. We can get you in the room with the right individual(s), it’s up to you and/or your team to facilitate the deal.

What types of businesses does CODA work with?
We work with a range of industries and acquisition profiles. The specific businesses we pursue depend on the buyer's criteria and the opportunity.

For Buyers

Can I tell CODA exactly what I'm looking for?
Absolutely. We work from criteria such as industry, geography, revenue, EBITDA, size, ownership structure, and other acquisition requirements you’d like us to uncover.

Do I have to pursue an opportunity CODA introduces?
No. Every opportunity is presented for your review. You decide whether you want to pursue an introduction.

Are CODA's opportunities publicly listed businesses?
No. A major part of our approach is identifying business owners who may be open to a conversation even if they aren't currently advertising their business for sale.

Is there a meeting fee or monthly retainer?
No. CODA is success-fee driven. There are no meeting introduction fees or monthly retainers. We win, when you win.

For Business Owners

I'm not actively looking to sell. Can I still talk with CODA?
Yes. Many business owners we contact aren't actively marketing their businesses. In this case, we offer business development services to get your company where it needs to be before entertaining exit strategies.

What happens if I'm interested in selling my business?
We'll conduct an Intake Form to learn more about your business, understand your objectives, and determine whether there is a potential fit with a buyer in our network or an acquisition search we're conducting.

Will my information be shared without my permission?
No. CODA takes confidentiality seriously. We do not share sensitive business information with prospective buyers without appropriate authorization and protections in place. All Intake Forms that are completed are redacted before sharing with potential buyers.
